2008-01-17 game for toddlers to learn numbers
Both of my kids at about 3 yrs old loved a game where I would pretend that a tiny bug was climbing the steps, starting with the '1' block. When it reached the top, it would start to fall over, like being unstable at the top of the latter. The child then quickly searches for the next rod, so the bug can not fall and keep climbing. When we reach the 10 rod, we'd use another 10 as a slide and let the bug slide down and cheer.
After a few weeks my older daughter knew every number rod and would actually refer to the colors when talking about a number. --guest
